Tukuche Turquoise

This embroidered shirt is from Ostad's shop.

Nepal shirt

Very high in the Nepali Himalayas, near the town of Tukuche at 9000 ft, we had been trekking up from Pokhara for 10 days, following the gorge of the Kali Ghandaki River. On the far side of the river there was a Tibetan Monastery and refugee community, and several of them had come across the river and spread out their wares alongside the trekking route.

Tibetans

I traded my extra pair of Levi's for six pieces of turquoise and the ammonite pictured below.

Turquoise and Pukas

The Puka shells on the string with them, came from the beach in Bali later on in this same trip.

Ammonite

An ammonite is a 60 milion year old fossilized snail. They can be found in the riverbed if you wanted to spend a lot of time looking at rocks. It's better to let the local people get the income from them anyway.

Ammonite

This Ganesh was a gift from Lokendra as we were leaving the country.

Nepal Collection

...and this embroidered shirt was agift from the trekking company.

Annapurna shirt

Not a Garage Sale. That's just the name of the book.
